Lucky Seven

We recently shared our 7 year anniversary together! The past three years we have spent our anniversary in NYC, since it's always been one of our favorite places. It didn't feel right to break our anniversary tradition, so here is how we spent our special weekend in the city!

Saturday

Most weekends we tend to be very casual - going for a walk, grocery shopping, and laundry are our norm. So choosing to eat at Oceans was a welcomed splurge. This beautiful restaurant near the Flatiron, sits on Park Ave South. Our waiter made food and drink recommendations and brought us focaccia bread [our favorite]. With our waiters suggestions in mind we ordered: the rocket-man roll and beef tataki as our appetizers, the sea bass and lobster roll for our entrees, and for drinks the pacific rim, Jacob's ladder, and pinot noir. Everything we ate was unreal, but the rocket-man sushi roll was the best sushi we have ever had!

We skipped on dessert so that we could have one more drink. We are clearly the type of people who prefer to drink their calories. There's a small coffee by day, bar by night place behind our building called Split Eights. Rumor has it, they have one of the best espresso martini's in manhattan, so of course we had to see for ourselves. As someone who orders one just about every time we go out, I can say theirs ranks at the top of my list. Little did we know, the place we would go for breakfast the next morning would have an espresso martini that was just as incredible!!

Sunday

We woke up Sunday still reminiscing over our dinner the night before - so we figured why stop having fun now? There was a small brunch spot near our apartment that Adam and I have both had our eye on, and it was about time we checked it out. Hole In The Wall has multiple locations but we walked to the FiDi restaurant. We ordered espresso martinis and boozy lattes along with chili eggs and salmon toast. The chili eggs are in Adam's words - "the best breakfast I've ever had" which is a bold statement coming from him.

Our next stop of the weekend was to a highly reviewed museum. Adam can stand in a museum for hours reading every blurb about everything. I, on the other hand could walk by the Mona Lisa without realizing. So when picking a museum we wanted one that had a mix of history and movement to pique my interest - and we found just that!! We ended up at The Shed in Hudson Yards to see DRIFT: Fragile Future, which was the most awing and magical museum we've ever been to. The installation touches upon kinetic energy, movement, and the unknown. Somehow the blocks [pictured in the middle] are able to move in unison and float using kinetic energy!

After having our minds blow - we went to Union Square for the farmers market. This weekend the market was so colorful. With the seasons changing, it was so neat to see flowers and fruits that thrive during the colder months. We had such a great time trying teas, mushroom vodka, and other goodies from the stands!

This anniversary was so special! It was also the first time that we weren't just visiting NYC for the weekend - we finally live here. It's so crazy to look back on the years we have spent dreaming of weekends like this and now we are living them. Here's to the lucky seven, and the next seventy!
